Erisa Baker, New York-Based: How to Enjoy an Escape Close to Home

After a long time at home, the long-awaited end to self-restraint is finally here!
But the reality is that it’s still hard to freely head “far away for a day out!” like before...

Even in New York City, the revival of economic activity has only just begun,
and shops and restaurants won’t start opening until around the end of June.
For now, everyone is figuring out local outings while following the rules and enjoying themselves.

This time, New York-based model Elisa Baker shares
her go-to ways to enjoy a little escape close to home!

Why not start by refreshing yourself with a nearby outing?

ELISA BAKER / Elisa Baker

Raised in Oregon and Chiba Prefecture.
She began working as a model and expanded into styling, brand collaborations, writing, and more.
She relocated to New York in 2017.
Today, she shares not only fashion but also a sustainable lifestyle, mainly on Instagram.

Hiking

When you hear New York, you may first imagine a towering metropolis of skyscrapers—but that’s actually just a small part of the state.
New York State is larger than the combined area of Hokkaido and Kyushu, and once you leave the city, you’re surrounded by nature.
The pace in the city center is fast, and there are times when it’s hard to keep your mind at ease.
That’s why so many people leave the city on weekends to enjoy hiking!
The upstate area where I’ve been spending these past few months is about a two-hour drive north of Manhattan.
It has lots of hiking spots and is also a place where city residents go to relax and enjoy a getaway.

Elisa's Comment♡

Minnewaska State Park is
a beautiful park with panoramic views of the Catskill Mountains
.

For hiking, I wear running tights and sports sneakers.
I like switching up my tops depending on my mood. After a hike, I take a break at my favorite spot.

Elisa's Comment♡

I just clear my head completely and spend time gazing at the breathtaking view while taking deep breaths.

Picnic

I like to have fun with patterns and colors for picnics.
My style is to enjoy everything from the picnic blanket to the clothes I wear there, all with a cheerful spirit!
The pattern on my favorite hat, which I bought recently, matches the one in my suitcase perfectly,
adding a fresh pop of color to my picnic too♡
The food is simple, but everything is handmade and thoughtfully prepared.
Beet and bean salad, pasta. Bread and vegan brownies.

A suitcase is great for carrying big loads,
and it also comes in handy for picnics, doubling as a basket or table!
